A two day ride that takes you from the laikipia plateau, alongside the Aberdare's and finishes with a stupid section on the Nakuru highway.
I am sure there is a more off-road route, but I pretty much followed the road from Mugie to Limuru. Taking the turn off at Ol Kalou keeps you off the busy roads and it was only when I joined the Nairobi-Nakuru highway at the Thika highway that I was having to take care. I sat in a hotel and had some tea while I plucked the courage to ride that road.
This was my first experience staying in a "hoteli" in Kenya and it didn't disappoint. I ended up at the Hippo Point hotel, paid 600 KSH and got a fairly decent room, the classic shower/toilet combo and tasty meal. The owner was asleep when I got there and proceeded to wear my bike helmet as he gave me a tour of his hotel, strange guy.
One of my favourite spots in the entire facility. Mugie conservancy is where I spent my first years in Kenya and is a beautiful place filled with amazing people. Ekorian's Mugie Camp in the heart of the conservancy is an incredible place to go on safari with experiences you don't find everywhere - check it out!
