A two day road ride, with a stopover in Narok, this is a great cycle to get miles under your belt and test the legs on some hills.
I followed the main roads from Limuru and once I had turned off at Mai Mahiu it became a quiet and enjoyable route. No-one had told me about the several hills up to Narok and I wanted to collapse by the time I had finished. The ride from Narok was beautiful as you get closer to the Maasai Mara. When I reached Sekenani gate I wasn't allowed to cycle through but was directed to use a back road and cross the Talek river.
In Narok I stayed at the Transit Motel for 700 bob for a clean room and warm shower. I checked out the empty shopping mall but only saw the Narok Museum when I was cycling out the next morning, probably worth a visit. Shortly after turning onto the C12 I stopped at the Delda Classic Hotel for the best mandazi I have ever had.
Crossing the talek river was an experience. Depending on the rains it can be quite a fast flowing river and I've seen lots of crocs and hippos in it at points so be careful. I waited to watch a motorbike ride go through and then followed his route across. As I was cycling along the track to talet town two warthogs came flying out of a bush and nearly hit the bike. Always pay attention whilst cycling!
